A chemical peel is a procedure where a chemo-exfoliant agent is applied to an area of the body (most commonly the face) to treat wrinkles, discoloured skin and scars. This procedure can be administered alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. There are different grades of chemical peel, your practitioner will complete a in-depth consultation before your treatment. This will allow your practitioner to decide which strength of chemical peel is right for your skin type. Depending on the percentage of chemical peel applied this can change your overall results. The stronger the chemical peel, the deeper it will penetrate into the skin, resulting in a more dramatic result. If your skin is not suitable for the stronger chemical peels then you may need to undergo the procedure more than once to get your desired results.

Your chosen practitioner will complete an in-depth consultation to establish any skin concerns or eliminate any reasons as to why this treatment is not suitable before any treatment is administered.
All in all, chemical peels are safe if they are administered by an experienced and qualified skin therapist who has had the correct training.
However, as with all professional, clinical treatments, there are possible risks involved that you need to be aware of. These include;
Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so as it heals we recommend you use sunscreen for at least a month after your treatment is completed.
Unlike other facial treatments, a chemical peel can penetrate deeper into your skin, whilst exfoliating the outer layer of your skin and ultimately removing dead skin cells from the surface of your face. Chemical peels can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with other facial treatments, such as, dermaplaning. Depending on your skin type combining these two treatments can leave your skin radiant and glowing.
Results are seen with just one treatment. However, to continue to see the same results, it is recommended you have a maintenance session once every 30 days. Why every 30 days? Our skin naturally sheds dead skin cells, on average, every 28-40 days. The treatment in one session, removes about 3 weeks-worth of dead skin cells, that gives you just about a 30-day window before your skin cell turnover starts to dull your skin surface again.
Having a chemical peel following a dermaplaning treatment, can bring a range of advantages, including:Deeper penetration of the chemical peel – A Dermaplaning treatment removes the dead skin cells, the chemical peel can then penetrate into deeper skin levels, improving the effects. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as help reduce the other signs of ageing and the effects of sun damage.
Skin care products become more effective – The deep level of exfoliation created when combining these two different aesthetic treatments, any skin products you use will be more effective. These two will penetrate deeper into your skin, helping to nourish and hydrate skin tissue more effectively.
Radiant glowing skin – Combining these two treatments can leave your skin radiant and glowing. The effects of using these two methods combined are greatly improved, when compared to the results of using only one of these aesthetic treatments.
More even results – Not only will your skin be more radiant, with a brighter glow, but combining these two treatments also means that you will see more even results across the whole face. This is because the dermaplaning allows the chemical peel to work equally, over every region of the face.
